BaD Radio - Recap - 2/3/11

Thursday 2/3/11

Episode: 2864

Location: Radio Row

No Mix: So here’s a hypothetical for you. You meet your soul mate, but there is a catch: Every 3 years, someone will break both of your soul mate's collarbones with a crescent wrench, and there is only one way you can stop this from happening: You must swallow a pill that will make every song you hear--for the rest of your life--sound as if it's being performed by the band Alice in Chains. Every concert you attend, commercial you see, song you listen to on your iPod will sound like Alice in Chains is singing it. Do you swallow the pill?

12:00 – Colt McCoy: The Cleveland Browns quarterback and former Texas Longhorn great joins BaD Radio for an early interview. Colt slips up and says Coach Holmgren when referring to Mike Holmgren, the front office guy for the Browns. Pittsburgh, Saints, Patriots, Jets: the first 4 teams that Colt faced in the NFL. He went 2-2. Getting to play his first year is not what was planned by the coaches and GM, but Colt says that he learned a lot from “getting thrown into the fire”. Colt got some slack from people about not going back into the National Championship game his Senior year; he can relate to Cutler on some level. Colt is coaching in the Celebrity Beach Bowl.

The Open: Let’s go to Norm, “Let me go to some other notes…in the Pro Bowl yesterday”. Dan thinks that if Colt McCoy was drafted in the 80s, his physique would not be in question as to whether he is tall enough to play quarterback. Between Bradford, McCoy and Tebow; who did you think would’ve been the best quarterback coming out of college? It’s still hard to believe that McCoy dropped to the 3rd round in lieu of his stellar career in a tough conference.

12:40 – Some Super Bowl Songs: Stairway to Seven. Steel Defense (Lady Gaga parody). Lil Wayne’s Green and Yellow. (Language).

12:55 – Homer Call: Two outlandish calls will move on to the Finals which will be held in 2 weeks. This Crazy Meltdown by Dave Lamont unanimously moves on. The call of Desean Jackson’s game winning punt return versus the Giants takes the other spot in the finals.

1:15 – Super Bowl Quick Hits: Check out this video of Ben Roethlisberger singing at Pete’s Piano Bar in Fort Worth. Piano Man. Really? Should he just lay low or is it his right to be out and about on the town? Usher and Slash will make guest appearances during the Black Eyed Peas Halftime Show. Meh. Tom’s story he sent to Dan. In talking to Atari Bigby someone asks, “Were you named after the video game console”? Bigby’s response, “Yeah, I guess I was”.

1:40 – Holt McCallany: The star of FX’s new show Lights Out joins the show for a sit down. Lights Out could be called a Sopranos in the Boxing Ring type show. After a few episodes it’s obvious that boxing is just the setting for this character driven drama. He discusses his stint on Heroes and CSI: Miami. A good guy on a great show, give it a try.

2:00 – Donovan with the Wireless Mic: Donovan points out that The Situation walked by Bob during the Holt McCallany interview. He meets up with Deacon Jones, who coined the word “sack” because he wanted to put quarterbacks in a sack and beat them with a bat. He talks with a girl, she’s a former Cowboys Cheerleader and has never been to the “White House”. Some Eric Dickerson look-a-like named Bucky Brooks, he’s on twitter. Ryan Grant, Packers running back on IR, he doesn’t know if he’s going to be in the team photo.

2:20 – Donovan’s Super Bowl Quiz: For years, this pop-culture quiz has determined who will win the Super Bowl.
